The students continue to meet our every expectation. We had an incredible first day of our journey. The sights and sounds of New York City are seared in our memory forever. It was truly an unforgettable experience visiting the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Although we spent nearly two hours walking through the museum and the grounds of the memorial, there seemed to be a desire for more. The students were remarkable in the behavior as well as their sincere interest.
Our experience at Katz's Deli could only be described as a bit of sensory overload for many, yet a fun experience. It's a fast paced environment with incredible choices on so many delicious deli sandwiches. In many cases is seemed easier, and perhaps safer, to get a hamburger or a grilled cheese. However, for those that dared to step up to the counter and order a full sandwich, they were not disappointed. The fries and pickles were nice additions, and those who got an Eggcream, thoroughly enjoyed them.
In the morning we were off to Philadelphia to find out more about how our County has come to be what it is today, a democracy controlled by We The People. We got to see a fantastic multimedia presentation on the Constitution and strolled through a museum dedicated to our nation's rich history. After a nice box lunch, it was off to explore the city of Philadelphia, via horse and carriage for many.
It is a beautiful day and everyone is having an incredible time. We are working out way to Washington DC where we will first visit Arlington National Cemetery. It's hard to believe we've seen so much and we haven't been gone for two days yet. Stay tuned.
